Crochet Flowers
Adding a crocheted flower to a sweater, hat or bag that you have made (or bought at the store!) really customizes and personalizes something to make it truly special. We will work our way through a couple of different flower techniques in this class. It is very helpful if you have already taken the granny square class so you understand the basic inside out technique.
This is a one time stand alone 2 hour class and yarn will be supplies but you should bring your H hook.
Crochet Ripples
Crocheted ripples make for a very sophisticated blanket or scarf and when done in stripes look very much like the oh so hip it hurts Missoni. We will work through the basic technique as well as talking about a couple of different variations, all though the different variations are almost endless.
This is a one time stand alone 2 hour class and yarn will be provided, you just bring your H hook.
Crochet Washcloth of the Month
Come join us for the fun class each month as we make a different washcloth and learn a new technique.

Crochet Your First Hat
After you have taken the Learn to Crochet Series or Learn to Crochet and Next Steps in Crochet class and you are ready for your first project, this is the class for you! You will learn to work in the round while creating a simple beanie hat to fit an adult.
This is a two class series of 2 hour classes. You will need about 220 yards of worsted weight smooth yarn and an H hook. Original pattern will be provided in class.
Deconstructing a Sweater-Earth Day Celebration!
Join us for our day-long Earth Day Celebration with this fun class! We will show you how to take apart a thrift store sweatr to harvest the yarn and turn it into something new! This class will talk about what to look for in a sweater as well as different techniques to use.
This is a stand alone 2 hour class and includes a sweater to take apart.
Felted Bowls
Learn to make a bowl out of fiber with a wet felting technique. You will have a choice of color for your project and leave with a finished bowl just in need of final drying.
This is a stand alone one time class and all supplies are included.
Felted Dryer Balls-Earth Day Celebration!
Make reusable felted dryer balls from wool fiber. They help your clothing dry faster and cane even be scented. All supplies are included for this class, including local fiber.
Felted Soap
Learn to combine fiber around a bar of handmade soap with wet felting as a permanent cover for your soap.
This is a stand alone one time class and all supplies, including a bar of hand made Owl and Acorn soap are included.
Fine Finishes for Hand Knits
Anne Berk, Master Knitter will help you take your knitting from home-made to hand-made! Learn to give your hand knit projects a polished look with sewing techniques, picking up stitches and blocking.
Supply list given prior to class.
First Lace Scarf
Learn to knit a simple lace patterned scarf with worsted weight yarn using two different increases and two different decreases. This is a great class to get started with lace knitting and includes instruction and demonstration on the powers of blocking your lace knits.
Bring 350 yards of a smooth, mostly solid colored worsted weight yarn and size 7 needles (straights or circulars are both fine). Some people find stitch markers and row counters to be very helpful as well.You will receive an original pattern in class.
This is two 2 hour classes one week apart.
Funky Felted Purses
Learn how to sew a thrift store sweater and felt it into a funky, fun purse or bag. Your choice of different colors and styles of bag.
This is a 2 week class and includes all supplies. If you have a sweater you would like to use, you are welcome to bring it, but depending on suitability might not be able to use it.
How to Read a Crochet Pattern
After you have taken the Learn to Crochet Series or Learn to Crochet and Next Steps in Crochet classes, this class is a great next step! We will break down a pattern into its pieces, talk about the abbreviations used and help break the code so that you can understand and follow a pattern! It will open up so many projects to you! What will you make next?
This is a one time stand alone 1 hour class and no supplies are needed. You may bring any patterns you are having trouble with and we will use them in class.
How to Read a Knitting Pattern
After you learn to knit, you will probably pick up a pattern, all excited by the lovely photo of the finished project and begin to read. And it will all sound like a foreign language. That is because it IS! Come to this class and learn the lingo, slang and abbreviations used in knitting patterns as well as the standard conventions used and where to find all this information when you forget or something new comes up.
This is a quick one hour class and no supplies are needed. You are welcome to bring a pattern you are working on or would like to be working on and we will use it for class examples. No actual knitting takes place during this class.
Kids Learn to Knit
Kids ages 6-14 are welcome to join us for this fun class where they will learn the knit stitch while making a simple cotton washcloth.
This is a super quick one hour class with all supplies included for $20.
Knit a Mason Jar Cozy-Earth Day Celebration!
Learn to use the magic loop technique to knit a ribbed cozy for a mason jar. After the cozy is completed, you will have the opportunity to use kool aid to dye the cozy. These cozys turn an ordinary mason jar into a wonderful hot beverage travel container, but can also be used to decorate jam jars, pickles and more.
This is a stand alone 4 hour class and includes the yarn and dye, but you will need your own set of size 7 or 8 24″ circular needles.
Knit Block of the Month Club
Join us as we work our way through the Great American Afghan book! You can join at any time the squares are all the same size and are interchangeable! This is a wonderful way for newer knitter that know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease, cable and work in the round to expand their skills a little at a time.This is more of a club and less of a class, as we all laugh our way through helping each other learn each block.
Bring your copy of the Great American Afghan book (we have a few copies available for sale here at the shop) and the yarn and needles required for the block that month.

Knit Fingerless Gloves

Celebrate Flag Day by creating a flag-themed washcloth! We will have both a knit an a crochet version available.

Knit Washcloth of the Month
Every month we will explore a new technique as we work on a washcloth. This is a great chance to try out a new skill in a small dose. If you find you love it, then you can continue on to create and afghan, if you find you hate it, you finish your washcloth and move on to another technique. You can come to all of the classes or only one, but we make a different washcloth every month.
Please bring worsted weight cotton yarn and size 7 needles to class. Pattern will be provided in class.

Knit Your First Hat
Come practice knitting in the round in this fun class. We will make a basic ribbed beanie, but the pattern is open to modifications of your choosing, so if you have taken the Learn to Knit Cables class, you can add cables or if you have taken the First Lace Scarf class you can add a lace motif.
Bring a set of five size 7 double pointed needles that are 7″ long and about 200 yards of a smooth, worsted weight yarn (wool works great!). You will receive an original pattern in class. This is a series of two classes one week apart that are each 2 hours long.
Knit Your First Sweater
Anne Berk will guide you through knitting a top-down, raglan sleeved, cardigan sweater. This pattern comes in sizes XS through 3X and can be modified up or down even further. And it looks great on all body types! Anne will show you how to figure out what size to make, how to make minor modifications to flatter your figure and how to fix errors as they come up. If you are tired of knitting scarves and dishcloths and ready to branch out into something new…this is the class for you! This class will not be offered again until the fall, so if you have been waiting to take it, now is the time!
This is a four week class. The pattern will be emailed to you at sign up and all supplies are listed on the pattern.

This is a one time stand alone 1 1/2 hour class and all supplies are included, you just show up with a smile ready to learn.
Learn to Crochet a Granny Square
After you have taken the Learn to Crochet Series or Learn to Crochet and Next Steps in Crochet classes, this class is a great next step! We will learn the technique in taking the stitches you have learned and making a square shape from the inside out.
This is a one time stand alone 2 hour class and all yarn is included, just bring your trusty H hook.
Learn to Crochet Series
It is becoming more and more popular, so come be one of the cool kids and learn to crochet! This is a three week class, covering two projects and one sampler. We start with a cotton dishcloth and learn to chain, single crochet and ouble crochet. Homework that week will be to make a few more dishcloths. Then in the next class we make a little sampler while learning the half double crochet, triple crochet, scallops, popcorn/bobble stitch, and a couple of edgings. At the end of class, you will take home a skein of hand-dyed yarn (color is your choice!) and a pattern to make a sampler scarf. The third class we come back and talk about how our scarves are going, answer any questions that have come up and talk about what to do next.
This is a three week series of classes, with each class being 1 1/2 hours. All supplies are included, you just show up with a smile ready to learn.
Learn to Drop Spindle
Learn to spin your own yarn from fiber! You will learn how to use a drop spindle, spin different weights of yarn and ply.
One 2 hour class, all supplies provided including a recycled cd spindle to take home.
Learn to Knit
Do you want to learn to knit but have a crazy schedule and cannot commit to the three week Learn to Knit Series? Then this is the class for you! We will learn to cast on, knit, purl and bind off as we make a cotton washcloth. Then you come back and sign up for the Next Steps in Knitting class whenever your schedule allows.
All supplies included for this 1 1/2 hour class.
Learn to Knit Cables
This technique class will show you how to create “twists” in your knitting to make cables. This is a simnple and fun technique that is perfect for recent Learn to Knit Series graduates! We will start a cabled scarf in class and you will get an original pattern in this 2 hour class.
Please bring size 7 needles, 220 yards of worsted weight wool or equivalent, and a “j” hook cable needle.
Learn to Knit Entrelac
This is a fun technique that looks like it is almost woven. To learn entrelac you should know how to knit, purl, and knit and purl together. We will teach you how to pick up stitches in the class. Its a great first technique for new knitters!
Bring a size 7 circular needles with a cord that is at least 24″ long and not more than 32″ long, and 350 yards of worsted weight yarn (a long color repeating yarn looks wonderful in entrelac!).
Learn to Knit Series
Have you been wanting to learn or relearn how to knit? Then join us for the Learn to Knit Series! This is a three week class that will teach you all the basic skills you need to get knitting.
The first class covers casting on, the knit stitch, purl stitch and binding off as we make a cotton washcloth together. Your homework for the week is to make two more washcloths at home. The second week we review the washcloths and then make a tiny little hat while learning to work in the round on double pointed needles, two increases and two decreases. You will then take home a sampler scarf pattern and some hand-dyed yarn to make a scarf for your homework. In the third class we talk about how our scarves are going, answer questions and discuss where to go from here with your knitting.
This class includes three 1 1/2 hour classes and all supplies including two sets of needles, two skeins of yarn and an original knitting pattern for $90
Learn to Knit Socks
Would you like to be able to knit beautiful socks that fit your feet perfectly? Then join us for this class! We will spend the first week talking about the anatomy of a sock and cast on for the cuff. You will work the leg of your sock for homework that week and when we come back for the second class we will work the heel together. Then you work on the foot of your sock for homework then next week and we come back to class and do the toes together in the third class. And you have a finished sock when you are done!
Please bring 450 yards of your favorite sock yarn an a set of five size 1 ,2 or 3 (size 1 if you knit loose, size 3 if you knit tight and size 2 if you knit about on gauge. ) double pointed needles. Wooden needles that are great in that they are not slippery but can break in the small sizes if you hold them too tightly. Metal needles are stronger but the yarn can slip off. So decide which you would like to experiment with and be prepared to switch mid-sock if you find you are unhappy with your needles. Some people find two simple stitch markers to be helpful as well and a darning needle.
Learn to Spin on a Wheel
Learn to spin fiber or transfer your spindle spinning skills to a spinning wheel with Judy. There are some wheels available for students, but they are limited so please let us know if you will be needing one or you may bring your own wheel if you have one.
This is a series of two 2 hour classes a week apart with Judy Herndon. Some fiber is provided for class, but depending on how you spin, additional may be required.
Next Steps in Crochet
It is becoming more and more popular, so come be one of the cool kids and learn to crochet! After you take the Learn to Crochet class, this class will teach you how to half double crochet, triple crochet, scallops, popcorn and some edgings as well while we make a sampler.
This is a one time stand alone 1 1/2 hour class and all yarn is included you just bring your H hook.
Next Steps in Drop Spindling
Learn advanced techniques in plying, combing fibers and making more advanced yarns on a drop spindle. This ia great class for someone that has mastered the basic techniques of spinning on a drop spindle and is ready to move on to some more interesting yarns.
One 2 hour class, fiber included. Drop spindles available to borrow, but if you have one of your own, please bring it.
Next Steps in Knitting
After you have taken the Learn to Knit class, come back to learn some more advanced skills in this fun class. We will make a small (ok, its teeny tiny) hat in the round using double pointed needles. We will also learn two different increases and decreases to use while knitting.
Yarn is provided for this 1 1/2 hour class, you bring a set of 5 size 7 5″ double pointed needles (we have them available here at the shop if you need them!).
Nuno Felted Spiral Scarf
Using wet felting techniques to combine fiber and silk into a ruffled, spiral scarf. Its like magic when its done!
This is a stand alone one time class and includes all supplies.
