Thank you!

June 2013 is our last month here at Wynona Studios. Its been a great three years…I have had so much fun and enjoyed meeting all of you. I am so appreciative that you have let this be my job for the last three years. Thank you for your support, it is very much appreciated.

Today was our last regular hours day, but we will be in and out until the end of the month, especially on weekends. Please call ahead if you are headed down to see if we are here. 503-974-9193. We still have some furniture, books (mostly vintage), sweaters to unravel and knick knacks available!

Hugs and thanks again!

Special Offer to celebrate our New Website Design!

Sara has done an awesome job of redoing our website to be easier to load, easier to read and easier to use! Thank you! In particular, the classes page has been redone to make it easier to find and purchase space in our classes.

To celebrate we are offering a Chair Punchcard (a $35 value) with every Technique or Project Class that you sign up for on the website! We have lots available, and you can find them under the Classes tab above. The pdf has all of the classes listed through December and you can find one that works for you. You will receive your Chair Punchcard at your first class. The Chair Punchcard is good for 10 visits to the shop over a three month period to sit in the comfy chairs, use the Reference Library and visit with others.

This offer is good through August 11th, is only valid for classes purchased on the website, and there is a limit of one Chair Punchcard per person.

Lots of fun events coming up!

Tomorrow is the second Saturday in the City from 4pm-7pm and we would love to have you join us! There will be other artists at You Can Leave Your Hat On, a Mozzarella making class at Bridgeview Beer and Wine Supply, happy hour specials at Cypress and lots more! Please come support your local downtown businesses!

Wednesday, July 18th at 6:30pm is the next installment of our Wednesdays at Wynona’s series with Anne Berk. I have been looking forward to this one since we started planning these…Work Out Knits to Get Fit-modifying pattern to fit and flatter you body style. Bring your current project, enjoy a glass of wine and something to nibble on as we listen to Anne explain it all to us. We do ask for an RSVP so we have enough chairs and wine for everyone. The cost is $12 per person and we start at 6:30pm.

We are also in the process of revamping our website, especially the classes page. We are hoping to make it more streamlined and easy for people to sign up for classes on line. We would love your feedback if you have any.

Come enjoy our A/C and knit and catch up for a little while! We would love to see you!

Earth Day Celebration at Wynona Studios!

As you might have guessed from our total emphasis on local and recycled yarn and fiber, one of our favorite holidays is Earth Day, Sunday April 22nd!

This year to celebrate we have three classes (all with spots still available in them!). First there is Deconstructing a Sweater with me (JJ Foster), where you will learn to take an unloved sweater from your closet or the thrift store and turn it back into yarn to use for a new project. This class starts at 10:00am, is $35 and includes the sweater to take apart. Second there is Felted Dryer balls with Ruth Beck where you will learn to turn raw fiber (from her family’s sheep farm here in Oregon City) into a ball you can throw into the dryer to help get your clothes dry faster, so you can use less energy. This class starts at 10:30am, is $35 and also includes all supplies. And last but not least we have Mason Jar Cozies with the always entertaining Arminda Barnes, where you will learn to take recycled yarn and turn it into a cozy for a mason jar that will allow you to use it to transport hot beverages or simply to decorate those jars of homemade jam you give for the holidays. Arminda will show you how to use the magic loop technique to work in the round and when you are done with your cozy you will be able to dye it with Kool Aid to make it totally unique. This class starts at 1pm and is $35 with all supplies excpet the knitting needles included.

Additionally, we will have our recycled yarn on sale for 25% off! If you have not had a chance to try recycled yarn yet, this is a great chance to give it a whirl!

Rose City Yarn Crawl and other upcoming events!

Coming up in just a couple of days is the Rose City Yarn Crawl! This fun event will include 19 different shops this year and some exciting new features too! You can read all about it on the website www.rosecityyarncrawl.com. Here at Wynona Studios we will have all kinds of fun things going on, starting on Thursday with one of the lovely ladies from next door coming over to add wool dread hair extensions to your ‘do to help you celebrate the yarn crawl all weekend! These are temporary and will only cost $6 each, so come get a few (I want a pink and a turquoise I think!). We will also be having our usual Knit Night Thursday night and if you have been wanting to join us, this is the night to do it! We will be having treats and lots of laughter that evening and hope to see you there. The most exciting part might be each morning, when we give a skein of free recycled cashmere away to the first 10 people in the door each day! All I ask is to have a Barry Manilow ticket line when I open the door (you know, the people that camp out for days in advance….)

We also are please to announce a new series we are starting with Anne Berk, master knitter. On the third Wednesday of the month we will be gathering. We will provide some wine and nibbles, you bring your current project to work on and we will listen to Anne talk about some interesting and educational topics. We will be starting on April 18th with Block Party-The care and keeping of your hand knits. Each evening is only $12 and we would ask you to RSVP so we know how many chairs we need and how many bottles of wine to open!

With both of these fun events, as well as all of the exciting classes (now available on the website to sign up!) we hope to see you soon!
